1.
What is the difference between R-value and U-value?
An R-value is assigned to insulators and it measures the materials ability
to resist heat. A U-Value is used when measuring a window units ability
to control heat transfer. An R-value should not be used when talking about
windows as glass is not an insulator.
2.
What is Low-E and Argon Gas?
Low-E is a material designed to reduce heat transfer through thermal connectivity.
In windows there normally is a soft coat of Low-E that is baked into the
glass that can’t be scratched or disturbed. Argon gas is a non-toxic
inert gas that is injected between two panes of glass to reduce energy
transfer between the outside of your home and the inside.
3.
Do both homeowners need to be at the home during the estimate?
Although we would prefer for all homeowners to be available for the estimate
just so we can answer all the questions we can, we do not require this.
We understand that in most households both people work and it is difficult
to schedule together.
4.
How long does an estimate take?
Depending on how large your house is and what products we are meeting
to discuss, most estimates take about an hour to a hour and a half. This
also may vary depending on how many questions a homeowner may have.
5.
What does it mean when a company says "manufacturer installed"?
A common selling tactic used in this industry is to say “We use
only manufacturer installers." This means that the manufacturer is
subcontracting for the company that is selling the product. So, in this
case, a homeowner would be potentially dealing with three different entities:
the sales company, the manufacturer and the subcontractor.
6. How long does
an installation take?
In most cases we can install windows, doors,
and roofs in one day. Siding and trim, depending on the size of the job,
take an average of two days.
7. Can we see your
products in your showroom?
In our showroom you can see examples of all of our products installed
with the ability for the homeowner to operate and use them.
8. Do you have
any stock windows or doors?
No, all of our windows and doors are custom ordered for the individual
homeowner's measurements.
9. Do your products qualify
for the 2009-2010 Tax Credit?
Not all products qualify for the 2009-2010 Tax Credit. Even some versions
of the same window sold by different companies are not qualified. If you
are looking for a window or door that does qualify we have them available.
10.
Do you paint?
Unfortunately we don’t paint. Even though Eddie, our owner is a
master painter, he retired a long time ago from the business!
11. How much experience
do your crews have?
Our crew has over 30 years of combined experience and, on average, have
been with Creative Windows for 7.5 years.
We try to retain as many quality employees for as long as possible to
obtain the highest consistency in our installations.
12.
What are the warranties of your products?
The warranties of our products vary among different manufacturers and
products. However, most vinyl siding and vinyl windows have lifetime warranties
with a few limitations. |
