Roofing

The roof of your home is the front line of protection. It keeps water out and also helps keep the house cool. There are many types of ways to cover the roof of your home from the elements. Asphalt shingles are the number one selling product in America when it comes to roof coverings; there are Cedar Shake roofs, and Tile also. In the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, asphalt shingles are used about 90% of the time. Please review the descriptions of the different types of Asphalt shingle below and then visit our gallery of customer projects. Creative Windows is a 4-star CertainTeed Shingle installer. Ask us about the special warranties that this certification allows us to offer you.

Many people are unsure of which products they need and what options are available for their home improvement projects. Creative Windows provides the following images and descriptions to assist consumers with their decision-making processes.

3-tab shingle

3-tab Shingle: This shingle measures 3 feet or shows 3 tabs and is generally available in 25, 30 40 or 50 year warranties. This shingle gives your roof a defined smooth look.

Architectural Shingle: Architectural asphalt shingles feature larger exposures, better algae- and weather-resistant properties, and a greater array of warranty options. These types of shingles give your roof more depth and better definition giving your roof a layered look.

Specialty Roofing

Specialty Roofing: There are many types of specialty shingles that are made to imitate their predecessor’s. There is imitation slate, shake and tile. These are designed for the homeowner to have a maintenance free product at a much lower cost then the original.

Landmark Roofing

Ventilation: Every roof needs to be properly ventilated; without proper ventilation no shingle warranty will be honored. There are multiple ways to accomplish this. Most new houses have vented soffit which supplies enough Net Free Vented Area that, along with a new ridge vent, provides a well balanced system. Older homes or homes that do not have vented soffit often have Gable Vents, which help ventilate the attic space and roof, but do not properly balance the system. If your home does not have soffit or does not have properly functioning soffit, we can install an Edge Vent, which allows the ridge vent to properly draw cooler air from the eaves of the roof rather then the peaks, where the hot air is trapped, thus allowing for a properly balanced system.
